Bentley has snagged a leader well-versed in performance. The premium car manufacturer has declared that Frank-Steffen Walliser will step into the role of CEO starting July 1, 2024. He succeeds Adrian Hallmark, who made an unexpected move to Aston Martin in March.
Dedicated enthusiasts of Porsche and aficionados of high-performance supercars will likely recognize the name Walliser right away. His career with Porsche kicked off in 1995, and since then, he has held various roles within the company, including managing the motorsport division. Dr. Walliser holds a PhD in mechanical engineering and played a pivotal role as the project lead for the development of the 918 Spyder.
Dr. Walliser expressed his anticipation and reverence towards his new role, stating, "Approaching this responsibility with immense respect, I am eager to collaborate with the team in Crewe, which has demonstrated remarkable achievements in recent years." He further commented on the challenges ahead due to the evolving automotive sector and his readiness to tackle them alongside the Bentley crew. "I am confident that Bentley will continue to establish benchmarks in the luxury market," Walliser added in his statement.
It's clear that Walliser has expertise in creating high-performance vehicles. In 2019, he took charge of the 911 and 718 series and is departing from Porsche where he served as the head of total vehicle development, a position he stepped into in 2022.

Interestingly, Walliser's statement coincides with the reveal of the first electrified Porsche 911. Known for their hefty build, Bentley's luxury sports cars may benefit from Walliser's extensive experience with Porsche to potentially shed some pounds in future designs.
Bentley has secured the expertise of Frank-Steffen Walliser, a seasoned engineer with a wealth of knowledge in product and technology, as well as business acumen, who has previously introduced iconic models for Porsche, including the Porsche 918 Spyder," stated Gernot Dollner, the head of Audi and the Volkswagen Brand Progressive Group, which includes Bentley. "As Bentley continues its journey to become a top luxury brand, the extensive experience and understanding of the luxury market that Frank-Steffen Walliser brings will be incredibly beneficial."
