Audi sagt Fake-Auspuffblenden Adieu: Echte Endrohre für den neuen S5 Begeistern Fans
Audi is phasing out the use of fake exhaust pipes that have been universally disliked
The new S5 features authentic exhaust pipes that look incredible
Over the past decade, Audi has unfortunately fallen into the habit of equipping some of its car models with faux exhaust pipe fittings. A particularly egregious example was the diesel S5, which had its chrome pipes blatantly leading into a piece of plastic. The SQ5 and S6 suffered from the same issue. Thankfully, the era of these deceptive exhaust pipes is over, as Audi has begun to eliminate this contentious design feature.
During a discussion with Auto Express, a representative from Audi assured that future vehicles built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) will incorporate "hot tailpipes, functional tailpipes." This positive update is in response to "customer feedback," which is a diplomatic way of saying that consumers detested the fake versions. We share that sentiment.
During the studio appointment for the new A5 and its S5 variants, it was proudly announced that the visible exhaust pipes are now actual exhaust pipes again.
Upcoming 2025 Model of the Audi S5 Sed
In case you haven't noticed, an increasing number of vehicles are tucking their tailpipes away beneath the bumper. Audi is looking to feature these prominently in its new PPC-based cars. It's yet to be seen if smaller models built on the MQB platform will emulate this trend. Should the German luxury automaker aim for a uniform design across all its models, even the less expensive ones should boast a genuine setup.
Several new models based on the PPC platform are in development, including the Q5, A7, and Q7. It's highly anticipated that these models will be available in 'S' versions and will likely eliminate the faux exhaust pipes. Additionally, a larger three-row SUV, tentatively named the Q9, is set to be introduced as a belated competitor to the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. It remains uncertain whether the A8 will see a new generation powered by internal combustion engines. Should this occur, it would have to be renamed as the A9 to align with the new naming convention.
Upcoming 2024 Audi S5 Avant model
In the future, combustion engine vehicles will be identified with odd numbers, while electric vehicles will carry even numbers. Consequently, the previous A4 model has been replaced by the new A5. The upcoming gasoline and diesel-powered A6 will be rebranded as the A7. Even the high-performance RS 7 model has been spotted, complete with real exhaust pipes. This renumbering allows Audi to introduce a fully electric A6. Additionally, a smaller, combustion-free A4 is expected to follow the larger A8 EV.
Genuine exhaust pipes are not going to be around much longer at Audi. The company aims to shift entirely to electric vehicles by 2033 if their strategy remains unchanged. However, the manufacturing of combustion engines may persist for some time in China, depending on the demand in that region.
