In a devastating incident in eastern China, five children and six adults lost their lives when a bus plowed into a crowd outside a school. Following the crash, which also left many injured, authorities have detained the bus driver. This tragic event occurred shortly after national media reported on new initiatives aimed at ensuring student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State media CCTV reported that an accident took place at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. One individual sustained severe injuries, while twelve others are currently in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It veered off course and collided with people at an intersection. Authorities have since taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
