Red Bull’s Road to Recovery: Helmut Marko Reveals ‘Conclusive Findings’ to Revitalize RB20 Amid Title Race Pressure
Red Bull asserts "we have definitive results" to reverse the RB20's decline
Helmut Marko provides news on RB20's improvement
Helmut Marko has indicated that Red Bull is already advancing in addressing the issues with their 2024 F1 car.
Max Verstappen has tried six times but still hasn't secured a grand prix victory, and after leaving Monza last weekend, he called his RB20 car "a monster".
Red Bull is now keeping an eye on McLaren and Lando Norris in both the constructors' and drivers' championships.
“Although we haven't been performing well, Max still holds a 62-point lead,” Marko stated to OE24.
"However, if we keep up these actions, our advantage could diminish rapidly."
He acknowledged the necessity of supporting Verstappen to avoid jeopardizing the drivers' championship: "If we fail to provide him with a car he can handle and repeat a performance like that several more times, then anything could happen."
Marko described how Red Bull is responding to a lackluster performance at the Italian Grand Prix.
He mentioned that while they conduct a tyre test with Liam Lawson in Monza, their team will simultaneously evaluate and decide on necessary adjustments.
"We need to determine the moment when our progress went off track."
"We've gathered some definitive results, and now we need to swiftly make the necessary technical adjustments to restore the car's balance."
Verstappen is ahead of Norris by 62 points, while Red Bull's advantage over McLaren stands at only eight points.
At the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix next weekend, Norris and McLaren aim to deliver a significant impact against Red Bull.
According to Marko, achieving equilibrium with the RB20 is particularly challenging due to the imminent grand prix races.
"The upcoming street circuit races in Baku and Singapore don't hold much importance in this context," he stated.
“Austin will be the test of our ability to make a successful change.”
Marko emphasized that Red Bull would focus more on securing Verstappen's drivers' championship than on the constructors' championship.
He also stood up for Sergio Perez, attributing Red Bull's decreasing advantage in the constructors' championship to other factors.
"Checo isn't performing poorly; he's just not as fast. However, our main focus is on ensuring Max secures the drivers' world championship," Marko stated.
