Inside the Rivalry: Tech Guru Max Bartolini Unveils the Intriguing Differences and Similarities Between MotoGP Icons Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia
Tech leader offers intriguing comparison between Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia
Max Bartolini shares insights into the unique styles of the two champions
A tech executive, who has experience working with both Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia, has drawn comparisons between the capabilities of the two.
Before taking on the role of technical director at Yamaha, Max Bartolini played a crucial role in the Ducati team's garage.
Quartararo and Bagnaia, despite being on bikes with differing characteristics, have had their talents evaluated by an individual considered to be knowledgeable in the field.
Bartolini conveyed to Motosprint that both riders excel in braking capabilities – Pecco shines in the latter stage, while Quartararo excels in what's traditionally been considered the crucial phase.
"At times, Bagnaia exhibits more calculated approaches, while Fabio is purely driven by his natural ability, hitting the track and immediately pushing to the limits."
Pecco carefully evaluates his actions when necessary. Regarding velocity, I am of the opinion that Pecco hasn't fully tapped into his maximum capabilities: I am certain about this.
"Personality-wise, they share a lot of commonalities: Quartararo tends to be more sociable, while Bagnaia is somewhat more reserved, yet both are exceptionally talented."
"When you collaborate with Pecco, it's challenging to resist being charmed by him."
"They exhibit a number of comparable characteristics, particularly in their approach to the team. They look after them and show concern for their colleagues."
Bartolini commented on his experience collaborating with Yamaha's leading racer, Quartararo, noting, "Beyond his immense strength, his determination stands out."
"As a person, he's exceptionally kind, sometimes to a fault. Occasionally, he becomes frustrated upon his return because he's eager to succeed, though his irritation is short-lived, typically dissipating within five minutes.
"When you request his assistance, he promptly takes action. He possesses particular skills that make him adept at navigating obstacles efficiently. He excels in what he does."
Bartolini evaluated Quartararo's colleague, Alex Rins, noting, "He's quite talented too. Unfortunately, he's been plagued by health issues."
"He's particularly delicate about certain matters, displaying a systematic approach, which clearly shows his biking experience surpasses that of Fabio."
It's clear that his remarks are connected to his previous observations.
"Spending time in the garage alongside him turns into an endless series of laughs. Collaborating with them transforms into a remarkable experience, leaving you feeling uplifted on a personal level."
"The surroundings are quite favorable; you just need to increase your speed by half a second. If we can achieve this, we'll essentially be in a good position."
