Jorge Martin’s Quest for Vindication: Proving Ducati Wrong and Eyeing MotoGP Glory with Aprilia
Jorge Martin is eager to prove Ducati's decision was a mistake
Paolo Campinoti shares the driving force behind Jorge Martin's ambition
Jorge Martin is driven by a desire to show Ducati that they made a mistake by not selecting him for their main team.
Martin seemed a strong candidate for a promotion to the official Ducati team by 2025, until Marc Marquez indicated he wouldn't move to Pramac.
Ducati ultimately chose Marquez, while Martin has agreed to join Aprilia for the upcoming season.
"Pramac owner Paolo Campinoti described him to TNT Sports as appearing to have a robust character, yet emphasized that he's genuinely kind-hearted and a pleasant person."
"He's an incredibly kind individual, deeply dedicated and driven to prove that Ducati made a mistake by choosing Marc!"
Martin might still secure the top spot for Aprilia, snatching it from Ducati next season.
He is presently at the forefront of the MotoGP championship, holding a slim seven-point lead over Pecco Bagnaia, and a 53-point advantage over Marquez.
Martin's triumph in the recent sprint race at Misano has set a precedent for the upcoming race at the same track next weekend.
"Campinoti acknowledged its significance," he said. "Jorge consistently led but hadn't secured a victory in the recent races."
"His confidence allowed him to demonstrate to himself and everyone else that he remains present and engaged."
The aim was to strike a significant impact on Bagnaia.
"Pecco considers this track his home, given his extensive knowledge and remarkable speed on it. He demonstrated exceptional race pace, secured the pole position, and was undoubtedly the top contender," Neil Hodgson of TNT Sports observed.
"Out of all the circuits to secure a victory over him, [Martin] managed to do it at this one."
"He completely outperformed him. He took the lead immediately and maintained control throughout. The race was uneventful due to Martin's flawless performance."
"I observed a rider taking and slowing down significantly into the turns. It resembled a race of world-class champions."
