The Foreign Secretary has stated that the Labour Party is not to blame for the premature release of prisoners, despite the Conservative Party's claims that the government has committed basic mistakes.
In an effort to reduce overcrowding in prisons, 1,750 inmates were released earlier this week. On the day of his release, one of these former prisoners was arrested and charged for allegedly attacking a woman. He has since been taken back into custody.
Authorities confirmed that neither terrorists nor convicted sex offenders are included in the group slated for release.

Shadow Home Secretary James Cleverly stated that his Conservative government would not have taken similar measures to reduce prison overcrowding.

Mr. Cleverly stated that the Conservative government has been deporting foreign national offenders in order to free up "hundreds of prison spaces."

He charged the new Labour administration with yielding to proposals from the civil service that were also presented to his administration.
"He pointed out that the civil service provided a polished response they preferred, which was clearly incorrect," he stated.
"Once more, this unsophisticated and unseasoned administration took the bait."
"We are witnessing the repercussions as sexual offenders, domestic violence perpetrators, and habitual criminals are being freed in large numbers, leading to adverse outcomes. This is precisely why we initially opposed it."
