Huawei Set to Launch Independent and Autonomous Mobile OS, HarmonyOS Next, in Challenge to Android and iOS Dominance
Huawei's self-developed mobile operating system, which doesn't support Android, is planned to be released this month. An executive at a trade show stated that HarmonyOS Next is fully autonomously developed.
Huawei Technologies is gearing up to release the newest version of its self-developed mobile operating system, HarmonyOS Next, according to an executive. This move enhances the telecom equipment behemoth's efforts to compete with Google's Android and Apple's iOS within the local market.
Chen Xinxin, the general manager of HarmonyOS industry solutions, announced on Saturday that Huawei is set to formally introduce HarmonyOS Next by the end of this month. The announcement was made at the China International Fair For Trade In Service in Beijing, as reported by local news outlets.
The latest HarmonyOS Next is being referred to as the "pure breed" version of Harmony. This is due to the fact that, unlike its predecessors, it will no longer accommodate Android-based applications.
Chen reportedly stated on Saturday that the most recent version of the mobile platform was "completely independently created and self-governing".
Huawei has yet to provide a response to a comment request made on Sunday.
