**”Same Saturday Struggles: Lewis Hamilton’s Tyre Troubles in Azerbaijan Qualifying”**
"Another typical Saturday" – Lewis Hamilton voices usual complaint about tire issues
Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying, stating, "It's the same situation every Saturday."
At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton encountered a recurring issue, grappling with tyre temperature during the qualifying session.
Hamilton managed to qualify seventh in Baku, trailing his Mercedes teammate George Russell by 0.4 seconds.
Hamilton's struggles on Saturdays persisted, leading to another defeat to his teammate Russell.
This marks only the second instance in his Formula 1 career, the first being in 2014, where he has been outqualified by a teammate.
Hamilton kept his comments short following the qualifying session.
He informed Sky Sports, "It's just like any other Saturday."
When questioned about the challenges he encountered, Hamilton replied: “It's the usual situation that arises every Saturday.
"Yesterday the car performed wonderfully and felt fantastic. I genuinely believe it could have secured at least a second-row position today. However, when we came in today, the tires failed to function properly throughout the day."
According to Sky Sports analyst Bernie Collins, Hamilton was taken by surprise due to the decrease in track temperature.
She mentioned that although Mercedes experimented with various strategies for their outlaps, Hamilton might be more affected by the track conditions.
Collins remarked that being four-tenths of a second slower than George would likely be quite disappointing for him, as a driver is first and foremost compared to their teammate.
"Certainly, the circumstances have shifted, and he frequently voiced concerns about the tire temperature during the session. I believe they managed the outlap and the traffic somewhat, but they couldn’t fully synchronize everything."
"That's challenging to achieve during this qualification. Especially in Q3, the track temperature dropped significantly."
"I believe that might be what tripped Lewis up – he might be more affected by it, whereas George managed to handle it."
