MG ZS Hybrid+ (2024): The Compact SUV’s Revival with New Hybrid Powertrain and First Pricing Insights
MG ZS Hybrid+ (2024): Revamped Compact SUV Revealed
The powertrain is borrowed from the MG3 Hybrid+ and initial pricing information is available.
The MG ZS is recognized as an affordable Chinese SUV available in both conventional gas and all-electric versions. The latest iteration has just been unveiled. It not only sports a significantly updated design but also features a new hybrid power system under its hood. In terms of appearance, the upcoming ZS bears a slight resemblance to the present-day VW Tiguan, especially from the front.
The new MG ZS Hybrid+ features a hybrid powertrain that, as suggested by its name, is derived from the smaller MG3 Hybrid+. This is also reflected in the similar crease lines on the side profile. The setup pairs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine delivering 102 horsepower with an electric motor that produces 136 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, resulting in a combined output of 196 horsepower. This power duo enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 8.7 seconds.

Charged by a highly efficient 45-kW generator, the 1.83 kWh high-voltage battery promises significant operational cost reductions, according to MG. This is due to an improved fuel efficiency of 5.1 liters per 100 km (WLTP) and CO2 emissions standing at 115 g/km.
The latest MG ZS Hybrid+ is now available for order in the UK, with initial deliveries to MG dealers set to commence in October 2024. There's no information yet on its launch in Germany, but predictions point to early 2025.
The latest ZS Hybrid+ model is available on the island in two different trims: the SE starts at £21,995 whereas the Trophy version begins at £24,495. In euros, these prices approximate to €26,000 and €29,000, respectively. Both trims come with a manufacturer's warranty that lasts for 7 years or 80,000 miles, which is approximately 130,000 kilometers.
Both versions come fully equipped with comprehensive LED lighting at the front and rear, a 12.3-inch high-definition infotainment screen featuring navigation and live services, a 7-inch display for the instrument cluster, rear parking sensors coupled with a camera, automatic lights, a rain sensor, and keyless entry.
Both models come standard with MG Pilot, which offers a wide range of safety and driver assistance features. This includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking that recognizes pedestrians and cyclists, lane-keeping assistance, a cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor, a forward collision warning, and a traffic jam assistant.
Affordable Options to the MG ZS:
For an additional cost of 2,500 pounds (approximately 3,000 euros), the Trophy trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
Up to now, the previous model of the MG ZS has been available in Germany with a 106 horsepower naturally aspirated engine starting at €17,990. The top trim with a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine is priced at around €23,000. A rough estimate can be gauged from the MG3 Hybrid+, which starts at €20,000. Therefore, it's conceivable that the starting price for the new ZS could be around €22,000.
