Marc Marquez’s Strategic Focus on Ducati Mastery Ahead of 2025 and Dovizioso’s Insight on His Former Rival’s Progress
Marc Marquez focuses on gaining extensive experience with Ducati ahead of 2025
Andrea Dovizioso shares his thoughts on a past competitor
Andrea Dovizioso is of the opinion that Marc Marquez has focused on getting accustomed to the Ducati this season.
Marquez had to bide his time for his inaugural race victory with Gresini, which finally came during the 12th round of MotoGP at Aragon, where he led the pack throughout the weekend.
Following his victory at Misano, he has secured successive Grand Prix wins. He is now 53 points behind the championship frontrunner, Jorge Martin.
Dovizioso, once a competitor, expressed uncertainty to Sky about Marquez's return to his former glory, stating, "I don't know."
Dovizioso remarked, "Witnessing such dominant force at Aragon certainly made an impact."
In my view, he realized that competing for the championship wasn't feasible this year and he's leveraging this season as groundwork for the next. From the outset, through qualifying, to the actual race, it's a strategic move for the future.
From my perspective, it appears Marquez has not yet reached his full potential.
"He'll switch to another motorcycle, aiming to gain the fullest experience possible within an entirely new team, divergent from his familiar environment. Achieving this sense of familiarity and comfort will require a significant amount of time."
In 2025, Marquez is set to join the official Ducati team, teaming up with Pecco Bagnaia and both will compete on identical equipment.
Currently, he is competing using the GP23 against the more powerful GP24 models.
Next week, MotoGP is scheduled to return to Misano, a track where Marquez has previously claimed victory, before moving on to its circuits in the east, where the conditions could mirror those of Aragon.
It has sparked optimism that he might rejoin the battle for the championship.
"Dovizioso mentioned, "Unpredictable outcomes are possible, but Martin and Bagnaia are excelling in utilizing the motorcycle, making it challenging to compete with them."
"Besides their quick pace and the quality of their motorcycle, their command over the situation surpasses that of Marquez."
"In my view, he's aware of it and seems to be handling it with more composure than he has throughout his career."
