Joan Mir expresses dissatisfaction with the test's outcome: "I anticipated better results from this testing session"
Joan Mir has expressed a critical assessment of Honda's performance during the Misano trial.
The RC213V riders were set to experience updates including a fairing reminiscent of Ducati's design, along with chassis modifications and aerodynamic enhancements.
However, Repsol Honda's Mir was left feeling discontented.
"Mir mentioned that they experimented with aero and revisited tactics from the last trial, which had been unsuccessful."
"I had anticipated a greater outcome. I had high hopes for this examination."
"To properly attempt solutions for things that were failing, to explore additional options.
They excelled in enhancing the aerodynamics, yet during the race, there was no improvement whatsoever.
"I anticipated something far greater.
"My concern lies in the fact that the upcoming trial in Valencia will be pivotal in determining what happens next year."
"We are significantly distant from having a functional prototype and a concept to develop a competitive bicycle for the upcoming year. We are substantially far from achieving that."
"We must intensify our efforts to shorten the duration of the evolutionary process."
Mir noted the singular advantage of the one-day trial: "The aerodynamics can enhance your cornering speed in the fast turns."
"This minor adjustment significantly aids performance, particularly around Turn 11 on this circuit, showing beneficial results."
"In terms of the wheelie, there was a slight improvement."
"I'm pleased with this aspect, though let down by the alternative."
Nonetheless, Luca Marini, his colleague, provided a glimmer of optimism, stating, "We noticed the improvements Honda introduced here, and I trust that my insights will assist them in determining their next steps.
"I believe we've identified some positive aspects, not only looking ahead but also for the upcoming races."
LCR Honda's Johann Zarco shared optimistic comments, a day following his statement that the "project is completely unsuccessful."
Following a day of trials, Zarco emphasized, "I believe we've gained a deeper insight into many aspects."
