Hybrid SUVs designed for families are currently in high demand. The established Toyota RAV4 now faces competition from the newcomer MG HS, introduced in July 2024. Both SUVs are synonymous with practicality and cost-effectiveness, yet they occupy different market niches and come with a full range of features. We take a detailed look at how they stack up against each other.
Exterior
The latest MG HS has undergone a dramatic transformation compared to its predecessor, with the most noticeable changes being on the outside.

Key updates include changes to the size: The company's new C-segment SUV now stands at 4.66 meters long (an increase of 4.5 cm), 1.89 meters wide (an increase of 1.4 cm), and the roof has been lowered by about 3 cm to achieve a more dynamic and streamlined roof line. In addition, the wheelbase has been extended by 4.5 cm to 2.77 meters, providing additional interior space.
The front end of the latest HS model features a more robust bumper paired with sleek full-LED headlights. Just below these lights, a prominent single grille with satin grey accents takes center stage, with fog lights situated at the bumper's edges, adding to a more aggressive appearance.
The rear end has undergone a total makeover as well: The previous model's gentle curves have been discarded for a tighter, more athletic, and coupé-like silhouette. The full-LED taillights are now a singular piece, and the bumper is enhanced with a sports-style diffuser.

The angled wheel arches can accommodate wheels as large as 19 inches, and at the rear, a black feature mimics the appearance of a diffuser.
By opting for the Adventure trim, one can give the RAV4 an even more adventurous flair, identifiable by its body protection and distinctive grille. Additionally, there's the sportier GR Sport trim that features glossy black accents.
Interior
The interior of the MG has been completely redesigned. The dashboard features a dual high-resolution display with two 12.3-inch screens, which includes built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 360-degree camera and standard wireless smartphone charging.
