**”Hamilton Fires Back: ‘Act Like a World Champion’ – A Heated Rivalry Reignites Amid Red Bull’s Struggles”**
Lewis Hamilton taunts Max Verstappen with 'act like a world champion' remark
Lewis Hamilton has taunted his former F1 title competitor Max Verstappen, as Red Bull experiences a slump in performance, according to a report by Lewis Larkam in Belgium.
Lewis Hamilton has subtly criticized Max Verstappen, advising his former Formula 1 title contender to "behave like a world champion" after their clash at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton and Verstappen clashed during the final moments of last Sunday's race at the Hungaroring as they competed for third place and the last position on the podium.
Verstappen tried to make a late pass on Hamilton but ended up locking his brakes, causing their tires to collide. This sent the current world champion flying and off the track into the run-off zone.
Hamilton secured the third position, whereas Verstappen dropped to fifth place after a challenging race where he harshly condemned his car's performance and Red Bull's strategy, expressing his frustration through a series of expletive-laden outbursts on team radio.
Hamilton stated on Thursday, in anticipation of the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, that one must embody both a team leader and a team player.
"Perhaps it’s less about being a team leader and more about always keeping in mind that you are part of a team with many others, and you need to conduct yourself like a world champion."
When questioned about the definition of 'acting like a world champion,' a chuckling Hamilton responded, "That's an interesting question. Certainly not like last weekend."
Verstappen was observed informing Hamilton that they would "discuss" their on-track incident in the media area following the race in Hungary. However, Hamilton mentioned that this conversation has not taken place yet.
"We didn't have a conversation after that," he clarified. "We went to see the officials, and that was all. No, we haven't spoken."
"I'm unsure if we'll have the opportunity. Perhaps we'll chat during the drivers' parade this weekend. I haven't felt it was essential, but he might have something to discuss. However, we didn't find the time to do it."
Hamilton 'Taken Aback' by Stewards' Decision
The stewards determined that neither Verstappen nor Hamilton was "primarily responsible," allowing both drivers to avoid penalties.
Nevertheless, they concluded that Hamilton "could have taken additional steps to prevent the crash," a finding that has left the Mercedes driver confused.
Hamilton expressed his shock, saying he was very taken aback by the events. He mentioned that he had already been quite calm about the situation, viewing it merely as a racing incident and suggesting that it was best to move forward.
"However, it's important to note that one vehicle was being maneuvered intentionally while the other was not. Clearly, when all the wheels are locked, maintaining control is impossible."
"If you review the replay, you'll see that by the end of the maneuver, I'm quite distant from the apex, leaving plenty of space on the right-hand side."
"I was extremely astonished by the actions of the stewards. I'm not sure who documented it, but that's likely something I'll inquire about when I have a chance to talk to them."
