Fiat Boosts Hybrid Lineup: Introducing the New 136 PS Fiat 600 Hybrid Variant

A new version of the Fiat 600 Hybrid has been introduced, now offering a power output of 100 kW (136 HP). Buyers can select from the standard Fiat 600 Hybrid, the Fiat 600 Hybrid La Prima, and the special Fiat 600 Hybrid 125th Anniversary Edition. Previously, this compact SUV was only available with a 100 HP gasoline engine.

The new model variant features a mild-hybrid powertrain that merges a 100 kW (136 horsepower) gasoline engine with an electric motor incorporated into the transmission. This electric motor provides an extra boost of 21 kW (equivalent to 29 horsepower), particularly useful during acceleration. This setup enhances the efficiency of the start/stop system. The 48V powertrain is already familiar to many, having been used in various models from the Stellantis group, including the Opel Corsa and Astra.

The electric motor aids the gasoline engine by providing extra power and torque during acceleration, enhancing flexibility at low RPMs. Additionally, the energy stored in the lithium-ion battery allows the new Fiat 600 Hybrid to operate solely on electric power in certain driving conditions.

The engine’s power is transmitted to the front wheels through the standard dual-clutch transmission. This newly developed transmission offers six speeds and allows for manual shifting using paddles on the steering wheel. The more powerful Fiat 600 Hybrid is capable of reaching top speeds of 200 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds.

The latest model addition complements the existing Fiat 600 Hybrid that delivers 74 kW (100 horsepower) as well as the Fiat 600 Electric. We anticipate similar powertrains to be introduced in the upcoming Fiat Grande Panda. Furthermore, Fiat's CEO Olivier Francois has confirmed that a mild hybrid version of the 500 Electric will be launched in 2025. It's quite likely that this will feature the 136 horsepower engine.
