Die Renaissance des V12: Aston Martin Vanquish kehrt 2025 mit kraftvollem Herz zurück
Aston Martin's 2025 Vanquish model keeps the V12 tradition alive
Its stunning carbon fiber body turns heads wherever it goes
There are those for whom only a V12 will do. The fact that the DB12's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 680 horsepower and has a great sound doesn't cut it – it's the cylinder count that's lacking. That's why Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names with a V12 engine: the Vanquish.
After a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful endeavor to construct a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, embracing its original grand tourer (GT) heritage. This extravagantly large, potent, and opulent GT is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that pumps out 835 horsepower and can achieve top speeds of 345 km/h.

The engine retains the basic dimensions of the existing Aston V12 but has undergone significant enhancements when compared to its predecessor. In an effort to boost both power and torque—reaching an immense 1,000 Newton-meters—and to comply with increasingly strict emission standards, the V12 has been outfitted with a new engine block, heads, ports, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, injectors, and repositioned spark plugs. Essentially, it's been revamped entirely. Aston claims the engine is unrecognizable from its former version.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission, yet akin to the latest Vantage and the DB12, it boasts an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
With an impressive 160 horsepower per liter, this engine boasts the highest specific output ever achieved by an Aston Martin V12. The 2024 Vanquish thus represents the pinnacle of a progressive development. Since the launch of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, the performance and torque figures for Aston Martin's leading V12 models have doubled.

The latest V12 engine boasts several significant upgrades, including a reinforced cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads with reprofiled camshafts, and revamped intake and exhaust ports. The repositioning of spark plugs and the introduction of new fuel injectors with an increased flow rate ensure a more efficient combustion, resulting in top-of-the-class power and enhanced efficiency. Additionally, the introduction of new turbochargers that operate at higher speeds and with lower inertia contributes to an increase in power and a more responsive acceleration.
The latest turbochargers have been installed, featuring a decreased inertia and increased rotation speed by 15%, to enhance the energy harvested from exhaust gases, boost engine power, and elevate the new V12 engine to a new level of performance. Additionally, upgraded fuel injectors with a 10% increase in flow rate have been introduced to help the engine achieve its maximum power while also meeting emission standards.
The engine is also equipped with a new feature called Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what is needed for partial throttle, ensuring that drivers have immediate access to extra power when required. This is achieved through a precise coordination between the throttle and the electronically controlled wastegate. According to Aston Martin, the final drive ratio has been selected to enable a high top speed, yet acceleration remains impressive – the car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Like all modern Aston Martins, the Vanquish is built on a bonded and extruded aluminum monocoque chassis. However, unlike the DB12 and Vantage, its body is primarily composed of carbon fiber. Aston Martin states the car's dry weight at 1,774 kilograms. The tires are a custom-made set of Pirelli P-Zeros, with dimensions of 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear. The standard features also include forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to minimize unsprung weight.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an array of advanced suspension technology. The Vanquish incorporates Bilstein DTX dampers, similar to those found in the latest Vantage and DB12 models, and also boasts a six-axis inertia measurement unit. This unit enhances the accuracy of the dampers, electronic differential, and the traction/stability control systems. There is also the introduction of a new feature called Corner Braking, which guarantees rear stability when braking into a turn.
The interior of the Vanquish shares similarities with other modern Aston Martins, featuring a revamped central console equipped with tangible controls and a custom-designed entertainment system. A common complaint about previous models from Aston Martin was their lackluster cabin, but the Vanquish's cockpit appears to be anything but lackluster.
Compared to the DB12, the Vanquish boasts increased dimensions; it's stretched out longer, expanded in width, and has a lower profile. Its wheelbase extends nearly eight centimeters further, the total length has grown by 16.5 centimeters, and it's widened by over six centimeters. However, it's been reduced in height. It unmistakably bears the Aston Martin signature look, though it features a more sculpted bonnet at the front and more pronounced curves at the rear.
The sudden cutoff of the rear fin is a distinctive feature among the latest Aston Martin models, drawing inspiration from various vehicles the brand raced with at Le Mans in the 1960s, such as the DP212, DP214, and DP215. The silhouette and rear design also bear resemblance to the exclusive Valour, which in turn nods to the robust GT models produced by Aston in the 1970s. This marks only the third occasion that Aston Martin has utilized the Vanquish moniker.
In this instance as well, V12 engines are present.
Aston Martin has yet to announce the pricing for their latest Vanquish model, however, it's anticipated that the starting price will range between 250,000 and 300,000 euros. The premium price tag is justifiable, considering the company's decision to limit annual production to only 1,000 units. Customers can expect the initial deliveries of the vehicle to commence from October 2024 onwards.
