Daniel Ricciardo Eyes Red Bull Seat as Team Weighs Driver Changes Amid Championship Pressure
Daniel Ricciardo has shared his thoughts as a decision about changes to Red Bull's driver lineup approaches. "As usual, I'm concentrating on my own performance and what I can control. The storyline seems to shift with every race or every few races."
Daniel Ricciardo continues to concentrate on his individual performance, aiming to catch the attention of Red Bull’s senior executives before the F1 summer hiatus.
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are reportedly planning to hold a meeting during the break to talk about the status of Red Bull's second driver.
Red Bull is feeling the heat in the Formula 1 constructors' championship as McLaren secured both first and second place in the recent race in Hungary.
Red Bull currently has a slim 51-point advantage, and with Sergio Perez not showing improvement, they may have to consider making a switch.
Daniel Ricciardo is one of the candidates for Red Bull, with Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson also being considered.
During the FIA press conference in Belgium, with Crash.net reporters in attendance in the paddock, Ricciardo was questioned about his future and potential "driver changes."
"I'm not sure. To be honest, I really don't know," he stated. "But as usual, I concentrate on myself and what I'm capable of. The storyline shifts every race or so."
“This is the nature of our sport. Events unfold rapidly. In these scenarios, the key is to concentrate on your own performance, maximize your efforts, and see what opportunities arise. My strategy remains unchanged.”
"Heading into Budapest, I was aware that the next two weekends would be crucial leading up to the break. My goal is to enter the break with some positive momentum. That's my focus right now—aiming to perform well."
Ricciardo stated that he continues to stay in regular contact with Horner and Marko even though he is not competing for Red Bull's main team.
Last year, he served as the team's third driver until he was promoted to AlphaTauri, replacing Nyck de Vries.
"I continue to communicate frequently with Christian and Helmut," he mentioned. "Many things are still coordinated through them. As for the rest of the team, not so much, because I'm here concentrating on my responsibilities with my own team and engineers."
"During the previous year, I was highly involved. I participated in the drivers’ meetings, attended the post-session debriefs, and questioned the engineers extensively."
"Obviously, that's not the situation anymore. Christian and Helmut are still around. It's nice to meet them following a positive outcome. Helmut will certainly inform you if the outcome isn't favorable. I am genuinely pleased to be back in that environment and under such scrutiny."
