Bulletproof Luxury: The Armored Lucid Air Sapphire Hits the Market at $475K
The reinforced Lucid Air Sapphire, equipped with three motors, offers a fast getaway option in dangerous situations. Now, for $475,000, there's also a bulletproof model for situations where fleeing isn't an option.
The U.S. Armor Group, located in California, has transformed the electric high-end sedan into a bulletproof vehicle. They plan to equip the Air Sapphire with a special composite armor, which they assert is tenfold tougher than traditional ballistic steel, yet maintains a weight five times less. Additionally, the original glass will be substituted with a bulletproof variant capable of withstanding a .44 Magnum bullet, according to the company's statements. This armored upgrade will increase the Sapphire's weight by 385 pounds.

The American company U.S. Armor Group offers additional protective features such as electrified door handles, hidden pepper spray units, secret firearm openings, and systems to sense and guard against toxic gases. They also provide enhanced armor options that are capable of halting bullets from assault rifles, as well as safeguarding against grenades and various explosive contraptions.
Vehicles can be equipped with a robust communication setup that persistently keeps track of local emergency services frequencies for any possible dangers. It also has a quick-access button to reach U.S. Armor Group immediately should any problems with the communication equipment occur.

Boasting a staggering 1,234 horsepower and 1,430 pound-feet of torque, the Sapphire holds the title of the world's most potent sedan, regardless of powertrain type. Lucid's estimates showcase remarkable capability, with the vehicle capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 205 mph. Although the Sapphire doesn't match the efficiency of other models in the Air lineup, it still delivers an impressive 427 miles on a single charge according to EPA standards, outperforming the highest-range Tesla Model S variant.
The protective variant comes with a hefty price tag of $475,000, a significant increase from the $249,000 starting price of the standard Lucid Air Sapphire directly from the manufacturer. However, the intended market for this product probably boasts substantial income from stock dividends or has the financial backing of a country's GDP to support their buying power.
