Brad Binder’s Rolling Burnout and Jack Miller’s Rins Encounter: A Thrilling Aragon MotoGP Recap
Brad Binder exclaimed, “I ended up doing a rolling burnout again!” Meanwhile, Jack Miller mentioned he was “caught by Rins.” Binder also shared, “I had devised a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start…”
Brad Binder had his best MotoGP weekend since the start of the season in Qatar, securing 4th and 6th place finishes at Aragon.
This occurred despite him losing control at the start in both races, although his seventh-place finish was on the better part of a messy starting grid.
Binder trailed rookie Pedro Acosta during the middle portion of the race. This turned into a contest for third place when Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with 5 laps remaining.
However, Acosta managed to stay slightly beyond grasp.
“I came up with a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start, and I managed to do a rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!” Binder said with a smile.
"I was able to navigate through the crowd and overtake a few competitors. It was challenging to avoid errors as the front tire was overheating while trailing others, especially until the final part of the race."
"I attempted to gain time when exiting the corners since entering them at high speed was impossible due to the front overheating. However, this strategy backfired as the left side of the tire was completely worn out by the end."
"I gave it my all to overtake Pedro, but there was no more room at the back!"
"Besides that, we took some very positive strides this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective throughout the race."
Fellow racer Jack Miller had a powerful start, advancing from 15th place on the grid to 8th by the conclusion of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly encountered issues with maintaining rear grip.
Following a last-lap overtake by Alex Rins which pushed him out of ninth place, he, along with two other riders, was handed a 16-second penalty for tyre pressure violations after the race, resulting in a drop to 15th position.
“It was quite a lengthy race,” remarked Miller. “The track conditions changed yet again; it has been dirty for most of the weekend but felt more slippery today.”
"I gave it my all. It was tough to manage the [medium] rear tire, and I had a major highside incident coming out of the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. Although there were several challenges when transitioning from the outer edge to the center of the tire, I managed to finish successfully."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I found it difficult to keep up with the guys ahead. We'll continue to work hard."
"Pleased to finish in the top ten, but Rins managed to overtake me on the last lap's back straight. I was trying to be as accurate as possible, but I lost speed and he was able to outpace me on the back stretch."
“We will return to Misano in the future.”
KTM will have a total of five riders this weekend as test rider Pol Espargaro joins as a wild card.
"Next, head to Misano with an eye on the upcoming test and Pol's wildcard, which should provide us with valuable insights for the future," stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP event will see Binder trailing Acosta by three points, with Acosta currently in fifth place in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be formally announced as a rider for Pramac Yamaha at the team's home races in Italy, is in 15th place, trailing Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo by three points.
