Brad Binder Praises ‘Radical’ 2025 KTM MotoGP Prototype: ‘Quite Different’ to Current Model
Brad Binder shares first impressions of KTM's 2025 MotoGP prototype
"It's significantly different from our current model"
Brad Binder mentioned that the KTM MotoGP prototype bike for the 2025 season, which he tested last Monday at Misano, was "noticeably different" from the current model.
The South African, who is contracted with KTM until the end of 2026, recently experienced the 2025 prototype bike that Pol Espargaro rode as a wildcard entry in the Austrian and San Marino Grands Prix.
The prototype RC16 has been making waves due to its bold rear aerodynamic design, and it seems the motorcycle is also equipped with an updated engine that features a new firing sequence compared to the existing version.
Binder and his future teammate Pedro Acosta tested the motorcycle during the session following the San Marino Grand Prix. Binder shared his thoughts on the bike as they prepared for the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.
"Indeed, it was definitely different from what we've been using up until now," he remarked about the 2025 RC16.
"Certainly, there are numerous minor aspects that we still need to adjust."
"The first impression was favorable and quite impressive."
KTM performed excellently during the test, with each rider evaluating distinct components.
"We've gained a significant amount of new insights from our recent experiments, and we’re optimistic that combining these findings will allow us to advance our project swiftly."
Binder delivered an impressive performance at the San Marino Grand Prix, securing fourth place in the race after starting from sixth on the grid.
KTM utilized the Monday test following the race to explore strategies for improvement ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which will also be held at Misano. As a result, Binder believes he will be "beginning in a significantly better position compared to the previous occasion."
When asked about his chances of getting closer to the Ducatis this weekend, he responded, "I absolutely intend to."
"Naturally, we have weekends all the time. However, this Thursday felt unusual since you were here just a few weeks ago."
"Overall, it's been great. We managed to cover everything in the test and throughout the race weekend, aiming to optimize every aspect wherever possible."
“Absolutely, we'll be kicking off the weekend in a significantly improved position compared to our last visit here.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how we handle things and hoping we can compete more closely with the leaders."
