Audi Q8 E-Tron: Minor Tweaks Before Potential Phase-Out
The latest model of the Audi Q8 E-Tron, slated for release in 2025, will feature a few small updates. Rumors suggest that this electric SUV may be phased out soon after.
Debuting with the 2024 lineup, the Q8 E-Tron took over from Audi's initial mass-market electric vehicle, the Audi E-Tron. It retained all the positive attributes of the E-Tron, such as its strong safety scores, while offering an extended driving distance and slightly improved handling.
In 2025, Audi introduces the convenience of an app store for its entertainment system, along with Homelink features now embedded within the rearview mirror. Enhancements include an improved park assist system that can be operated remotely, adding ease for drivers. Additionally, a new Magnesium trim option and various exterior trim updates complete the list of enhancements.

The latest version of the Q8 E-Tron can be purchased either as a classic SUV or in the more aerodynamic Sportback design, equipped with a 114-kWh battery (out of which 106 kWh is utilizable) and a two-motor, all-wheel-drive system that delivers 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque. Official EPA estimates for the 2025 model have not been released yet. However, to give an idea, the 2024 version of the Q8 E-Tron was capable of reaching up to 300 miles on a single charge in the Sportback model, and 285 miles in the traditional SUV version.
An enhanced, athletic version of the SQ8 E-Tron is offered, featuring a three-motor setup that can be paired with either the SUV or Sportback designs. This boosts its performance to 496 horsepower and 718 pound-feet of torque, which Audi claims can propel the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds—a noticeable improvement over the Q8 E-Tron's 5.6 seconds.
The starting cost for the Q8 E-Tron SUV in its basic Premium version is $76,095, which covers the compulsory delivery fee of $1,295. Additional models, such as the Premium Plus and Prestige, can be purchased for $80,495 and $86,495 respectively. Opting for the Sportback versions will add an extra $3,400 to the price tag.

Audi utilizes multiple foundational designs for its range of electric vehicles. The Q8 E-Tron continues to employ the initial E-Tron design framework. The Q4 E-Tron is built on the MEB platform from its parent company Volkswagen, while the E-Tron GT and the Porsche Taycan are both based on the J1 platform. Audi is set to debut a new structure with the upcoming 2025 Audi Q6 E-Tron, which will share the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with the electric version of the Porsche Macan.
