The Audi A6 is going electric. The new model is named the A6 e-tron. Both the sedan and the station wagon versions (now termed e-tron Sportback and e-tron Avant) will fully abandon combustion engines in favor of battery electric systems. Although future models will not have gasoline or diesel options, such A6 models will evolve into the A7.

A significant shift for a model that has always been a top seller in its category, competing head-to-head with the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes E-Class. We get up close and personal with it, examining its size and trunk space.
Audi A6 e-tron: Size Specifications
The size specifications are largely similar to the A6 sedan that features internal combustion engines. The length of the A6 e-tron Sportback is 4.93 meters, which is 1 centimeter shorter than the combustion A6, and the width is 1.92 meters, which is 3 centimeters wider.
Audi A6 e-tron Sportback has been transformed into a sleek
The most significant change from the previous A6 model is in its height; the electric Audi has increased by 10 cm, reaching 1.56 meters. This increase is largely due to the baseplate which houses the battery pack.
The wheelbase is also quite similar, measuring at 2.94 meters, which is an increase of 2 centimeters.
The Audi A6 e-tron Sportback's interior and luggage compartment
The dimensions of the Audi A6 e-tron Sportback suggest that it offers a comfortable ride for both front and rear seat passengers. Those seated in the back benefit from ample legroom due to the generous wheelbase.
Despite its sedan design that boasts a sleek, almost coupe-like shape, the A6 e-tron Sportback offers a generous amount of trunk space. The base volume starts at 502 liters and can be increased to 1,422 liters by folding down the rear seats in a 40:20:40 split. Additionally, there's an option for a station wagon model, referred to as the Avant.
The trunk of the Audi A6 e-tron Sportback
The option to fold down the center seat comes in handy, particularly when loading long items such as poles or skis. Additionally, the trunk features a 27-liter compartment primarily designed for storing charging cables. This compartment can be opened with a sliding motion.
Audi A6 e-tron Sportback: Competitors
The group of rivals challenging the A6 e-tron Sportback is quite limited. Currently, the market has a sparse selection of electric sedans in the executive class.
Additional from Audi:
The most immediate rivals include the BMW i5 and the Mercedes EQE, with the BMW being the largest vehicle among the ones being evaluated. The Tesla Model S boasts the most spacious trunk in the group.
