Verstappen’s Increased Errors Signal Red Bull’s Exit from Comfort Zone, Says Ferrari Boss Vasseur
Is Max Verstappen committing more errors now that he's facing increased pressure?
Ferrari's leader, Frederic Vasseur, is of the opinion that Max Verstappen has started to commit “more errors” due to Red Bull no longer being in a position of ease.
In the past three races, Verstappen has come up short of victory twice, first against Lando Norris in Miami and most recently to Charles Leclerc in Monaco.
Verstappen delivered an exceptional performance at Imola, securing pole position ahead of the McLarens and then narrowly winning against Norris by a mere 0.7 seconds on the day of the race.
Consequently, Verstappen has encountered several mistakes owing to the challenging equilibrium of the RB20.
In Monaco, he made contact with the wall during the first qualifying session, resulting in a sixth-place starting position on the grid.
Vasseur is of the opinion that because Verstappen and Red Bull are not as dominant as before, the current world champion is compelled to exert more effort, leading to an increase in mistakes.
"Without jumping to any conclusions based on this weekend's events, Vasseur mentioned to the press, including Crash.net, that if you examine the past two weekends, Max's errors in Imola surpassed those made in the previous three seasons."
"The moment you're required to exert additional effort, if your strategy involves staying within your comfort zone without maai-allcreator.com">king any errors, that's the scenario they found themselves in, though I'm not making any definitive judgments. They'll quickly recover, come back stronger, and I don't anticipate that the remaining races will be straightforward."
"The moment you find yourself needing to focus more on the finer points, it initiates a cascading effect – and this has been a key aspect of the progress made over the past half year or so."
Following Leclerc's victory in Monaco, he is now only 31 points away from Verstappen in the race for the drivers' championship.
The competition is nearly as tight in the team standings, with Ferrari trailing by only 24 points.

In evaluating Ferrari's prospects for the championship, Vasseur noted, "The issue isn't about motivation, as that's been present for some time. Rather, it's about building self-belief within the team and among the drivers."
"It's essential we maintain our current approach, yet the direst possibility would be to assume that everything is set in stone and will remain unchanged until the season wraps up. I firmly believe that we'll encounter a variety of circuits with distinct designs and features that may favor McLaren or Red Bull more."
"The season will have its highs and lows, and we must accumulate points even when we're not performing our best, as well as secure victories when we are in a leading position."
