Tragic Start to School Year in Eastern China: Bus Crash Kills 11, Local Community Rallies with Blood Drive
Five children and six adults have perished in Eastern China after a bus collided with a school gathering, with the driver now in custody. Meanwhile, a nearby cinema is facilitating blood donation efforts through mobile units in response to a social media appeal to assist the many injured in the incident.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State-run CCTV reported that the accident took place at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping county, Shandong province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while twelve others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities reported that a school bus, which was used to transport students, lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. The bus driver has been taken into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
