Tragic Start to School Year in Eastern China: Bus Crash Claims Lives of Students and Parents, Community Rallies with Blood Drive
Five children and six adults have perished in eastern China, with the bus driver now in custody following a tragic accident involving a school group. In response to the incident, a nearby cinema has facilitated blood donation drives, supported by appeals on social media to assist the numerous individuals wounded in the mishap.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people in front of a middle school in eastern China, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State media CCTV reported that the accident happened at approximately 7am in front of Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year's start.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, six adults and five children lost their lives in the incident. One individual was critically injured, while twelve others are currently stable. The status of additional injured parties has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus used for transporting students. The bus lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Police have taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
