Tragic Morning in Eastern China: Bus Crash Kills 11, Including Children and Parents, Outside School
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China when a bus plowed into a crowd outside a school. The incident, which also left many injured, occurred shortly after national media highlighted new safety protocols for student protection. Authorities have since detained the bus driver involved in the tragic event.
On Tuesday morning in eastern China, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a junior high school, resulting in 11 deaths and 24 injuries.
State media outlet CCTV reports that the accident took place at approximately 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back to school.
According to the report, those injured were transported to the hospital.
Dongping police reported that among the deceased, six were parents and five were students. Additionally, one individual was critically injured, while 12 others sustained injuries but are in stable condition. The status of the remaining injured parties is currently unclear.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It veered off course and collided with a group of people as it neared an intersection. Law enforcement has taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
