Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: School Bus Crash Kills 11, Community Rallies with Blood Drive at Local Cinema
Five children and six adults have perished in eastern China after a bus collided with a crowd at a school, with the driver now in police custody. Following a widespread appeal on social media, a nearby cinema is facilitating blood donations by hosting medical units to assist the numerous individuals wounded in the incident.
On Tuesday morning in eastern China, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a junior high school, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
As reported by state broadcaster CCTV, the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside the Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, six of the deceased were parents and five were students. One individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are currently stable. The status of additional injured parties has not been disclosed.
According to police reports, the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. It reportedly went out of control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have taken the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
