Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: Bus Crash Kills 11, Community Rallies with Blood Drive at Local Cinema
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China, with the driver now in custody following a bus collision involving school pedestrians. In response, a nearby cinema is facilitating blood donation drives, supported by a social media campaign, to help the numerous individuals injured in the incident.
On Tuesday morning, an incident occurred in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a junior high school, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State-run CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to the Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. It veered off course and collided with a group of people near an intersection. Law enforcement has taken the driver into custody and an investigation is currently underway.
