Tragedy in Eastern China: School Bus Crash Claims Lives of Students and Parents, Community Rallies with Emergency Blood Drive
Five children and six adults have perished in eastern China after a bus collided with a group outside a school, with the driver now in custody. In response to the tragedy, a nearby cinema has stationed blood donation vans, following a widespread appeal on social media to assist the many people wounded in the incident.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people near a middle school in East China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State media outlet CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back at school.
According to the report, the wounded were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six adults, identified as parents, and five children who were students. One individual sustained severe injuries, while twelve others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of additional injured parties remains unclear.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It veered off course and collided with a crowd of people while nearing an intersection. Authorities have taken the driver into custody, and the incident is currently under investigation.
