Tragedy at School Gates: Bus Crash in Eastern China Leaves 11 Dead, Community Rallies with Blood Drive at Local Cinema
Five children and six parents have lost their lives in eastern China following a tragic incident where a bus plowed into a school crowd. The driver has since been taken into custody. In response to the catastrophe, a local cinema is facilitating blood donation drives, supported by appeals on social media to help the numerous individuals wounded in the accident.
On Tuesday morning, in eastern China, a bus collided with a group of people in front of a junior high school, resulting in 11 deaths and 24 injuries.
State broadcaster CCTV reported that the accident took place at about 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Junior High School located in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new academic year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
Authorities in Dongping reported that among the deceased were six parents and five students. One individual sustained severe injuries, and twelve others are currently in stable condition. The status of additional victims has not been disclosed.
According to police, the vehicle involved was a school bus responsible for transporting students. The bus lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have taken the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
