These are the outcomes of the Formula 1 practice sessions for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix.
In the second practice session, which was not affected by rain, Mercedes' George Russell led the way, narrowly outpacing McLaren's Oscar Piastri by a margin of just 0.061 seconds, with both drivers on soft tyres.
Lewis Hamilton, driving the second Mercedes, clinched third place, followed by Lando Norris in his McLaren and the current leader in the world championship, Max Verstappen.
Carlos Sainz managed to complete only seven laps before a gearbox issue forced the Ferrari driver to sit out the remainder of the session.
Nico Hulkenberg of Haas lost control and crashed into the barriers at Turn 1, leading to the sole red flag incident on Friday.
In the initial practice session, Lando Norris led the field in his enhanced McLaren amidst changing wet and dry conditions at Zandvoort.
Throughout the session, as the track conditions got better, the leaderboard frequently updated. Norris managed to surpass the current leader in the world championship, Max Verstappen, securing the quickest lap by a slim margin.
Lewis Hamilton secured the third position driving for Mercedes, followed by Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and his own team member George Russell, as drivers opted for soft tyres during the last sprint laps of the first free practice session.
