Raul Fernandez’s Grip Woes Lead to Disappointment at Le Mans, Oliveira Retires Due to Technical Glitch
Raul Fernandez expressed his frustration, citing insufficient grip as the reason for his disappointment, and believed that a position in the second group was achievable. He was convinced that a top ten finish at Le Mans was within reach if it weren't for the grip issues.
Raul Fernandez secured the 11th position for the Trackhouse Aprilia squad, while his teammate Miguel Oliveira was forced to withdraw from the French MotoGP race.
Fernandez crossed the finish line 11 seconds after Alex Marquez, but the Spanish rider felt he had the potential to compete for sixth place.
"Fernandez remarked that today's race presented numerous challenges. He noted that his performance in the Sprint, where he secured ninth place, was a genuine reflection of his capabilities, whereas his 11th place finish in today’s race was more a matter of fortune than skill.
"The sensation I experienced both yesterday and earlier today simply disappeared during the race. I lacked traction – managing the race proved difficult as my speed was just too sluggish."
"I'm quite disheartened by today's outcome; my goal was to end the race among the second cluster of runners, a target that seemed achievable."
"Yesterday, we were able to keep up with them, but today, my speed just wasn't there. I couldn't achieve the same lap times as before, and I just didn't have the right sensation."
"Utilizing the rear brake was a challenge for me, maai-allcreator.com">king it quite tough to handle 27 laps in that condition. We're making progress on a daily basis and have seen improvements, but today was frankly not our best performance."
"It's essential for us to thoroughly examine our current situation and keep making progress in Barcelona."
Oliveira faced an early technical problem that hindered the Portuguese racer from demonstrating his actual speed.
After enduring the problem for an additional ten laps, Oliveira eventually decided to end his efforts.
Oliveira remarked, "The race went pretty well, I maintained a solid speed, but not long after it started, I encountered a mechanical problem with the exhaust."
"Afterward, I persisted for roughly 10 circuits while dealing with this issue, which eventually resulted in a significant hindrance to my performance, especially in how the electronics regulated engine braking, power distribution, and so forth.
Therefore, I decided it was best to stop using the bicycle to prevent any additional harm. At that moment, I wasn't certain of the specific issue, but the change in noise clearly indicated it had something to do with the exhaust system.
“The group is currently examining the situation, and collectively, we'll explore potential measures to prevent such occurrences moving forward.”
