Quartararo’s Italian MotoGP Nightmare: Arm Issue Derails Champion’s Race to 18th Place
Fabio Quartararo on his challenging Italian MotoGP experience: "I experienced a problem with my arm"
Fabio Quartararo shared, "The race was extremely difficult, particularly in terms of physical demands. I encountered a problem with my arm, which significantly hindered my riding during the final ten laps."
Fabio Quartararo fell to 18th place during the Italian MotoGP, experiencing significant difficulties in the last ten laps.
The weekend, which was already proving to be challenging for the 2021 world champion, escalated into a catastrophe at the grand prix when he started to experience issues with his arm.
At a track where he previously triumphed with Yamaha, Quartararo concluded the recent race an astonishing 30 seconds behind the victor, Francesco Bagnaia.
"The race was incredibly challenging, particularly in terms of physical endurance," Quartararo started. "I encountered a problem with my arm, which significantly hindered my ability to ride effectively during the final ten laps.
"The issue isn't arm pump; rather, my arm reaches its threshold when we're racing on such tracks. It's disappointing that we weren't able to achieve high speeds."
"We anticipated better performance in this race. Our challenge arises with reduced traction. We're optimistic about discovering a way to enhance the bike's handling."
"We've devised a strategy for tomorrow's examination aimed at addressing one of our shortcomings. Should it prove beneficial in this context, I believe it will also enhance our physical performance in riding."
Alex Rins was able to secure a point for Yamaha, despite falling back from his initial tenth-place position at the start.
By the race's conclusion, Rins had fallen to 15th place, later conceding that the outcome fell short of his anticipations.
Rins expressed, "Definitely, this wasn't the race I had hoped for. I battled intensely to secure the 15th spot."
"I faced challenges throughout the entire race, right from the start. However, I managed to perform slightly better at the beginning compared to yesterday: this time, I dropped two spots."
"Gradually, with each circuit, I aimed to maintain my presence. I endeavored to control the motorcycle, and I worked on handling my physical state, given that currently, operating our motorcycle is quite challenging."
"However, we view these competitions as trials. They present a special opportunity for us to measure ourselves against our competitors, learning valuable lessons in the process."
