Pedro Acosta’s Podium Hopes Dashed by Front Bike Issues at Catalunya MotoGP
Pedro Acosta discloses "issue with the bike's front end", podium chances "thrown away"
Pedro Acosta acknowledges "there was an issue with the bike's front."
Pedro Acosta's hopes for a win at the Catalunya MotoGP were dashed after a crash, but he managed to get back on track and secure three points.
The KTM competitor ai-allcreator.com">kicked off the race with incredible speed, appearing ready to take on Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia.
Unfortunately, an accident in the tenth corner shattered the newcomer's dreams of securing their first victory in MotoGP.
Addressing the situation, Acosta highlighted a malfunction concerning the motorcycle, stating, "There was an issue with the bike's front end, and currently, it's quite unclear."
"Once more, the bike showed outstanding performance, leaving no room for criticism regarding its capabilities. The issue did not lie with the tires."
Acosta showed his best speed during the Le Mans and Catalunya races, where he had the potential to win both events if not for his crashes.
Despite not fully leveraging his abilities, Acosta is still satisfied with the outcomes of the final two rounds.
Acosta stated, “Only during the Le Mans and this weekend did I consistently find myself among the leading group.
"I quickly found myself solo, on the verge of overtaking others by myself, and managed to complete a standard qualification unaccompanied.
"Despite the accidents, those were the two most outstanding weekends of the season. The motorcycle performed well enough to secure a spot on the podium."
"I'm really upset about having to discard the podium. The bike was incredibly competitive."
Acosta, along with three others including Marc Marquez, chose the soft rear tire, with Marquez climbing from 14th position to secure a third-place finish.
Acosta, enjoying a significant lead over Marquez when he went down, is convinced he would have outperformed the Ducati competitor.
"Acosta started, suggesting that Marquez might have pushed too hard, especially being at the end of the leading pack. He wasn't sure exactly when, but noted that Marquez took longer to pass the others than he did previously.
"For me, that was the crucial tyre choice for victory. I won't claim that I could have definitely outpaced Pecco or Martin, but truthfully, considering the speed we were at and the distance between Pecco and Marc, we were ahead by half a second. It's unfortunate."
