Oliver Bearman Eager to Absorb Winning Mentality from Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 Ferrari Move
Oliver Bearman is eager to absorb the "champion mindset" Hamilton will introduce to the Ferrari F1 squad.
"He's got a lot of insight to offer, and it's fantastic that he's willing to pass some of that on to me."
Upcoming Haas F1 team member Oliver Bearman mentioned that Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari in 2025 will infuse a victorious mindset, which he aims to absorb and benefit from.
In a stunning twist ahead of the F1 season, the legendary seven-time world champion Hamilton has triggered a departure clause in his existing contract with Mercedes and inked a multi-year agreement to team up with Charles Leclerc at Ferrari starting in 2025.
Bearman, stepping in for the injured Carlos Sainz at Ferrari during his first F1 race in Saudi Arabia and securing a seventh-place finish, is set to join Haas as a full-time driver next year.
Supported by Ferrari's junior driver initiative, Bearman is excited about Hamilton joining the Italian team and views it as a significant chance to learn.
"Bearman believes he will contribute a significant amount of expertise to the squad," he shared with Sky Sports F1.
"He has secured seven global titles – a feat few individuals can boast of."
"He will contribute a positive attitude and a mindset focused on victory to the squad. Additionally, his skill is indisputable. He ranks among the greatest to ever play the game."
"It's wonderful that he has the ability to impart some of his knowledge to me, even if it's just a bit."
"I'm optimistic about gaining a lot of insight from him and I trust that Ferrari too will benefit, as he's likely to be a valuable addition to the team."
Bearman expressed deep gratitude towards Ferrari for their consistent support since 2021 and for showing confidence in him by choosing him to take Sainz's place in Jeddah.
"He believes Ferrari stands as one of the world's most legendary brands, especially in the realms of racing and Formula 1."
"When you sketch a car, it appears in red. This brand is closely associated with speed, triumph, excellence, and remarkable drivers alike."
"Firstly, achieving my initial appearance with Ferrari, that's an occurrence that hasn't been seen in a significant period."
"Becoming the youngest driver for Ferrari was truly a unique and significant moment for me."
"Undoubtedly, my ambition is to clinch world championships, and achieving this feat with Ferrari is my ultimate dream."
"Ferrari has backed me since 2021, recognizing my potential early. They chose to have faith in me, and allowing me to drive in Jeddah represented a significant gamble on their part."
"This demonstrates their confidence in me, their faith in my abilities, and certainly, one day, I aspire to secure a championship title, particularly with Ferrari."
Bearman is presently competing in Formula 2, leading up to his official entry into Formula 1 next year.
Following an impressive first season with Prema, the British driver has found it challenging to maintain that level of success in 2024, securing only a single victory and accumulating 34 points, which positions him at 15th.
