Nostalgie auf vier Rädern: Garage Italia belebt den Geist der WM 1990 mit Fiat Grande Panda Neuauflagen
Fiat, we're pleading for the return of the Italia-90 Panda!
The digital transformation of the Grande Panda by Garage Italia comes packed with a sense of longing for the past.
Do you feel the same way? The 1990 Soccer World Cup might just hold the title for the most memorable World Cup ever, well, along with 2006 perhaps. Yet, it wasn't only about Germany clinching the World Cup title; it was about a German summer on the cusp of national unity, sprinkled with an Italian essence under a sky of liberty. And the anthem to it all? "Un'estate italiana" by Edoardo Bennato and Gianna Nannini.
During the World Cup, Fiat was a sponsor and came up with unique Italia-90 special editions. The standout feature was the Panda that came with soccer-themed hubcaps. So, how about a new version based on the recently revealed Grande Panda? Garage Italia has already explored this idea digitally and has presented the Neo-Italia-90 along with other retro-inspired designs.
Garage Italia's Designs for Fiat Grande Panda
Do you recall the Fiat Panda Sisley? This stylish iteration of the Panda 4×4 debuted in 1987, standing out with its rugged appearance and a level of attention to detail previously unseen in the Panda line. This variant has secured its place in the legacy of Italy's popular car, and who knows, perhaps it will make a comeback with the Grande Panda.
To kick things off, Garage Italia has embraced the concept of an imagined Fiat Grande Panda Sisley, one of the renderings released yesterday during the unveiling of the company's new compact electric vehicle, evoking a sense of nostalgia.

The Sisley model, recognizable by its roof racks, canoe, "4×4 Sisley" inscription, and deep red paint job, represents just one of the imaginative concepts from the Milan studio. The design aims to transport us back to the iconic 1980s, featuring color schemes that pay homage to some of the most classic versions of the Fiat Panda, originally designed by Giugiaro.
More on the Giant Panda:
The Fiat Grande Panda Italia '90 pays homage to the Panda Italia '90 special edition that was released in 1990 to celebrate the soccer World Cup hosted by Italy. The regular white paint and the official Italia '90 mascot, "Ciao," are featured on the rear pillar.

The acronym SIP, which stands for Società Italiana per l'Esercizio delle Telecomunicazioni and is the predecessor to the current TIM (Telecom Italia), might sound unfamiliar to the younger generation. As such, the Fiat Grande Panda by Garage Italia serves as a tribute to Italian heritage, complete with a traditional iron ladder mounted on its roof.
And there's also the re-release of the unique Fiat Panda 4×4, a favorite of Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli for navigating through St. Moritz to his chalet.

Peering into a potential future, the Carabinieri and the Forestry Corps may soon be seen in the Fiat Grande Panda. The Fiat Panda has always been open to donning a uniform. It remains to be seen if its larger, partially electric successor will follow in its tire tracks one day.
