The leader of Reform UK has thrown his hat into the ring for a parliamentary seat in Clacton, marking his reentry into prominent political roles this week.
Mr. Farage was splashed with what seemed to be a McDonald's banana milkshake while exiting the Moon and Starfish Wetherspoons pub in the vicinity at about 2 p.m.
He was spotted entering his campaign bus, his dark blue suit stained with a yellow beverage.
The seasoned critic of the European Union initially responded to the situation with humor, quipping, "my milkshake attracts everyone to the gathering."
He subsequently described it as "quite frightening," acknowledging it as a hazard inherent to his "traditional street campaigning."
Mr. Farage has experienced having food or beverages thrown at him before, including previous incidents involving milkshakes.
In May 2019, during a city center campaign event before the European elections, Paul Crowther, a resident of Newcastle, threw a banana and salted caramel milkshake, which he bought for £5.25 from the fast-food restaurant Five Guys, at the leader of the Brexit Party at the time.
He was apprehended on-site and admitted to charges of common assault and criminal damage. He was mandated to compensate Mr. Farage £350 for the cleaning of his suit following the "politically motivated attack".
