Following reports that Martin was poised to secure the position of Francesco Bagnaia’s teammate at Ducati for the upcoming season, the Italian company reconsidered and is now expected to reveal Marc Marquez as the new team member.
Ducati had been optimistic about Marquez becoming a part of the Pramac team riding a GP25, but the eight-time world champion took Ducati by surprise by revealing that moving to Pramac was not an option.
Consequently, Ducati made a significant decision to change their strategy and choose Marquez instead of Martin.
The only thing left is for both parties to finalize a contract, and Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna mentioned that they are striving to finish this promptly.
"It's challenging to finalize all the contracts," stated Dall'Igna. "We are currently addressing this."
“We will definitely make an announcement about this soon, but I can't specify exactly when.”
Dall’Igna made his comments before the announcement about Martin moving to Aprilia was released.
The genius responsible for Ducati’s impressive motorcycles, which are currently leading in MotoGP, also provided news regarding Enea Bastianini, who seems to be no longer in contention for the official Ducati team position.
When questioned whether Bastianini's outstanding performance at Mugello had any impact, Dall’Igna responded, "To be honest, I don't believe it has. We will have to wait and see, but I don't think it has."
