Marco Bezzecchi Expresses Doubts on VR46 Stay Amid Aprilia and Yamaha Factory Seat Speculations
Bezzecchi Considering Aprilia? Expresses "Doubts" About Continuing with VR46
"Speaking in hindsight is always easier…"
Marco Bezzecchi has acknowledged reconsidering his choice to remain with VR46.
He has conceded at a time when there could be available spots at Aprilia or Yamaha for the 2025 MotoGP rider roster.
Bezzecchi has struggled to match the exceptional performance he showcased last year, a period that marked significant progress in his career.
His success in winning multiple Grand Prix races and contending for the championship led to a proposal for him to join Pramac with a factory-spec motorcycle. However, he decided to stay with VR46, opting for a machine that was a year old.
"Bezzecchi acknowledged to Sky Italia that he's reconsidered his position."
"However, I've never second-guessed my decision, and it hasn't impacted me."
"Reflecting on events after they occur is always simpler, yet I remain sure of the choice I made."
Bezzecchi aspires to become a factory rider for the first time.
Despite Luca Marini, a former team member of VR46, moving to Repsol Honda last year and enjoying the benefits of being a factory rider, he stands out as the sole full-time MotoGP competitor who has yet to earn any points this season.
"Bezzecchi expressed his personal growth and shared his aspiration to become a professional rider, a goal he believes is shared by all."
"I must quickly prove my speed and competitiveness to earn an opportunity."
He's not in the running for the Ducati position next to Francesco Bagnaia.
However, opportunities may emerge at Yamaha and Aprilia.
Yamaha's ambition to introduce a satellite team may lead to significant changes, whereas Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro is considering retirement.
Bezzecchi faced questions regarding his potential transition to these manufacturers.
"He responded, saying it's always a two-sided situation."
"However, I believe it's a decision made collectively, akin to entering into a 'union'."
"However, discussing it now might be somewhat premature."
In the previous year, Bezzecchi achieved his initial victory in the top division, marking also the first for his team, during the race in Argentina.
He maintained his strong performance in pursuit of the championship until a training injury led to a decline in his momentum.
However, he has discovered that the GP23 is significantly more challenging to master than the GP22.
"He described it as a somewhat more complex bicycle."
"The tires have been recently manufactured, featuring a new design."
"I managed to adjust swiftly to entering corners, though I'm finding it challenging to maintain control, particularly when I first apply the throttle, as I navigate through the mid-section of the turn.
"The bicycle often gains additional traction, and I frequently have the sensation that I'm not turning sharply enough, yet we're addressing the issue and I'm optimistic."
Bezzecchi secured a top-three finish in one of the first five races this season, achieving this at Jerez.
