KTM Chief’s Blunt Warning to Miller Amid Contract Uncertainty: “Other Big Names Are Knocking on Our Door
KTM chief delivers frank message to Jack Miller amidst uncertainty over his contract
"Several other highly attractive options are reaching out to us, prompting us to consider our choices"
KTM's head has expressed dissatisfaction with the showings of Jack Miller and Augusto Fernandez, pondering the possibility of offering them renewed agreements.
Team member Miller and Tech3 GASGAS' Fernandez are both overshadowed by their respective partners, Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta.
Binder and Acosta have secured their positions with the manufacturer for the upcoming year, whereas the future of Miller and Fernandez with the team remains uncertain.
Now, KTM's motorsport chief, Pit Beirer, has shared some forthright views on their upcoming plans.
"Undoubtedly, Brad and Pedro are two exceptional riders in whom we have immense belief and confidence for what lies ahead," he expressed to Motorsport-Magazin regarding the MotoGP rider roster for 2025.
"My desire remains the same: I aim to keep moving forward alongside our four horsemen."
"Your inquiry is entirely valid. Frankly, the recent showings from Jack and Augusto fall short of what's expected for a coveted MotoGP spot."
"We have entered a stage where there's still an opportunity available to us, albeit a limited one."
"Augusto and Jack aren't required to make monumental strides, but rather, they should focus on incremental progress to ensure the stability of the package."
"That remains my desire.
Certainly, there's activity in the market for riders, and some very appealing names have been reaching out to us, prompting us to consider our options.
"We haven't entered the intense stage of bidding competition, facing off against Ducati or Aprilia. However, it's a thrilling period."
The competition for the factory seat is heavily influenced by Ducati's choice among Marc Marquez, Enea Bastianini, or Jorge Martin.
The consequences may involve KTM or Aprilia reaching out to whichever rider doesn't secure a spot with Ducati.
At the same time, Honda might see Miller as a valuable asset for his expertise to aid in advancing their challenging endeavor.
In his inaugural season with KTM during 2023, Miller secured the 11th position, whereas his colleague Binder achieved fourth place.
KTM demonstrated significant confidence in both Miller and Fernandez the previous year, as it was evident that Acosta was seeking an advancement from Moto2.
Pol Espargaro was downgraded, while Fernandez’s contract received an extension, significantly benefiting the latter.
Despite Acosta's clear potential, Miller continued to retain his position in the factory.
KTM has firmly stated that they will not interchange Miller and Acosta during the season, despite the outstanding performance of the young Spanish rider.
