A Labour councillor, currently suspended, was taken into custody following accusations of stating at a demonstration that fascists should have their throats slit.
The Metropolitan Police announced the arrest on Twitter, sharing the initial video in which Ricky Jones, a community council member from Dartford in Kent, is seen allegedly making the remarks.
The police department reported that a man in his 50s was taken into custody at a location in southeast London.
"He was detained on allegations of inciting murder and for violating the Public Order Act. He is being held at a police station in south London."

A spokesperson for the Labour Party stated: "Such conduct is utterly intolerable and we will not allow it to continue.
"The party has temporarily removed the councillor from its membership."

On Wednesday, demonstrators convened in Walthamstow, located in east London, aiming to oppose the violent unrest that has resulted in over 480 arrests, as reported by the National Police Chiefs' Council.
Following the anti-racism rally in Walthamstow, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley informed the media, "The event concluded smoothly last night. However, there were a few spots where some local offenders appeared and attempted to incite disorder, leading to several arrests."
