A Labour councillor, currently suspended, was taken into custody following accusations of stating during a protest that fascists should be subjected to throat-slitting.
The Metropolitan Police announced the arrest on Twitter, sharing the initial video where Ricky Jones, a councillor from Dartford in Kent, is allegedly seen making the remarks.
The police department reported that a man in his 50s was taken into custody at a location in southeast London.
"He has been detained on allegations of inciting murder and for violating the Public Order Act. He is currently being held at a police station in south London."

Demonstrators filled the street from one side to the other behind him, displaying signs that stated: "Eliminate fascism and racism by all necessary measures."
The remarks pertain to individuals involved in chaotic unrest and riots across various towns, including an incident where a mosque was vandalized in Southport and hotels accommodating asylum seekers were overrun.
Labour previously announced that Jones had been suspended from the party due to the video.
This indicates that he can no longer serve as a Labour councillor since he has been stripped of the Labour whip, and will therefore serve as an independent.
A spokesperson for the Labour Party stated: "Such conduct is entirely unacceptable and will not be allowed."
"The party has temporarily removed the councillor from its membership."
