Fabio di Giannantonio Maps Out Strategic Career Path with Plan A-B-C Towards Factory Bike Ambition
Fabio di Giannantonio outlines multiple strategies, aims for factory ride
Fabio di Giannantonio stated, "We've devised multiple strategies, labeled plan A, B, and C. My objective is to progress, which for my career, means securing a factory bike by next year."
Fabio di Giannantonio, whose contract with VR46 was solidified following last year's season-ending race in Valencia, is the last confirmed participant for this year's MotoGP lineup. He is actively developing several strategies for 2025.
The favored choice, as he enters the fourth year of his top-tier racing career, involves upgrading to factory-spec equipment, following seasons spent on Ducatis from the previous year at Gresini and currently at VR46.
The victor of the Qatar 2023 has kicked off this season on a steady, though not dazzling, note, managing to secure a spot within the top six in three of the first six Grand Prix races, with their best performance being a fifth-place finish in the recent Catalunya event.
This positions him as the ninth overall in the global championship, making him the top GP23 racer following his successor at Gresini, Marc Marquez.
"Di Giannantonio expressed, during Thursday's event at Mugello, his belief that his progress throughout his MotoGP career has been noticeably significant."
"This year as well, it appears we're reaching an impressive standard of performance across all competitions. It's truly satisfying, and it's something I've been diligently striving for – to attain that level of consistency."
“Being part of the [VR46] team is genuinely amazing. I'm having a great time riding alongside them. Everyone in the garage is extremely knowledgeable about racing, and they're all really awesome individuals. The atmosphere in the pit is incredible, and it really motivates me to hop on the bike and perform at my highest level.
"Looking ahead, we are evaluating [our choices]."
"Definitely, along with my team [handling personal affairs], we've devised multiple strategies, labeled plan A, B, and C. My objective is to progress. Therefore, in terms of my career, it involves securing a factory bike for the upcoming year."
"Competing alongside the factory teams would be incredible, and having a factory bike makes everything somewhat smoother."
"Additionally, my collaboration with my [VR46] team is going incredibly well. We're achieving great results together. There are a couple of strategies we're focusing on, and the prospect of continuing with my team is truly appealing. This would offer a sense of stability over the next two years, allowing me to enhance my performance alongside the same team members. So, pursuing this path would be really exciting."
"We're in the process of addressing it. I believe it's somewhat premature, not overly so, but we do need to hold off for a few more weeks. However, we'll soon have all the details."
Remaining with VR46, di Giannantonio, along with his Italian colleague Bezzecchi, could be a suitable candidate for one of the Aprilia team's four potential factory-level seats anticipated to be available in 2025.
The optimal strategy for enhancing his prospects is to team up with fellow satellite competitors Marquez and Bezzecchi to secure a podium finish for the GP23 in the forthcoming races.
"Diggia expressed optimism, stating, "Our start has been promising. I'm quite comfortable with the bike. We're putting in every effort to fully utilize what the ‘23 bike offers.” He added, “Currently, it appears our main setback is falling behind in the initial laps of the races. Therefore, our primary goal is to enhance our performance in this aspect."
"However, I believe we're nearly on par with the leading competitors, so why not aim high this weekend? This location holds a unique significance for us as Italian riders, making it the perfect occasion to secure our best performance of the year. Perhaps even reaching the podium."
In his first year on the MotoGP circuit in 2022, di Giannantonio stunned the racing world by securing his maiden pole
