Ducati’s Bold Strategy to Retain Marquez and Martin Unveiled Amidst 2025 MotoGP Line-up Speculation
Unveiled: Ducati's Strategic Blueprint to Retain Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin
Italian media leaks indicate Ducati has a primary strategy – but is it feasible?
It's said that Ducati has a strategy in place to retain Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin.
The roster for the 2025 MotoGP season will largely depend on the crucial choice of Pecco Bagnaia's teammate.
Enea Bastianini faces competition for his spot from the leading figures of Gresini and Pramac.
Ducati is committed to exploring all possible avenues to keep Marquez and Martin on their team for the upcoming season, according to Sky Italia.
Understanding that both competitors require a bike of factory specification, the leading producer in MotoGP has already established its favored strategy.
Martin is set to join the factory team, taking over Bastianini's spot, while Marquez will transition from Gresini to Pramac.
Marquez is set to take over Martin's position at Pramac, transitioning to the latest factory equipment from the previous year's model he has been using at Gresini.
According to the report, this strategy would lead to the departure of Bastianini.
Nonetheless, Ducati has decided not to finalize their decision by the Mugello weekend.
Initially, it was anticipated that the significant announcement regarding the rider lineup would coincide with the Italian MotoGP. However, Marquez, Martin, and Bastianini will now have to wait a bit more to receive the news.
Team frontrunner Martin has consistently hinted at leaving Ducati entirely if he isn't elevated to the primary team with a red livery by 2025. Over the last two years, he's been overlooked for promotion twice.
Marquez switched from Honda to Ducati in a major shift this year. However, just after six races, he has expressed his desire to upgrade his equipment from last year's model to the latest factory specification by 2025.
Pramac is the sole independent team racing with Ducati to receive motorcycles of factory specifications.
Naturally, Ducati's strategy to retain Martin and Marquez hinges on the consent of the riders themselves.
In the past few weeks, Marquez has shown signs of easing his previous desire for a spot in the factory team, now appearing satisfied with having a factory bike in any setting.
The strategy also involves Pramac making the decision to continue as a satellite team for Ducati.
Pramac has the opportunity to leave and team up with Yamaha in 2025, a move that, if pursued, could derail Ducati's strategy for their riders.
