Der V12 lebt weiter: Der neue Aston Martin Vanquish 2025 – Eine Hommage an Leistung und Luxus
The upcoming 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish: The V12's legacy continues
Its stunning carbon fiber body turns heads wherever it goes
For some enthusiasts, nothing less than a V12 will do. Despite the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 in the DB12 delivering a robust 680 horsepower and a sound to match, for some, it's the cylinder count that falls short. Hence, Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names with a V12 under the hood: the Vanquish.
Following a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful attempt to produce a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, embracing its original essence. This audaciously sizable, potent, and sumptuous grand tourer is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12, delivering 835 horsepower and achieving a top speed of 345 km/h.

The engine retains the same basic dimensions as the previous Aston V12 model but has undergone significant modifications. To boost both power and torque – an impressive 1,000 Newton-meters – while adhering to more stringent emission regulations, the V12 is fitted with a new engine block, heads, ports, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, injectors, and relocated spark plugs. Essentially, it's been revamped entirely. Aston claims the engine is now unrecognizable from its predecessor.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission, but akin to the latest Vantage and the DB12, it comes equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
With an output of 160 horsepower per liter, this power unit boasts the highest specific output ever achieved by an Aston Martin V12 engine. As a result, the 2024 Vanquish sits at the pinnacle of an ongoing evolution. Since the debut of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, the performance and torque figures for Aston Martin's V12 flagship models have doubled.
Aston Martin Vanquish – Model 11
The latest V12 engine boasts a range of technical advancements, including a fortified cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads with reshaped camshafts, as well as revamped intake and exhaust ports. The relocation of spark plugs and the introduction of new fuel injectors with an increased flow rate enhance combustion, leading to top-of-the-class power and heightened efficiency. Additionally, the engine features new turbochargers that operate at higher speeds with less inertia, contributing to greater power output and more responsive acceleration.
The latest turbochargers have been installed, boasting a lower inertia and an increased rotation speed by 15%, enhancing the energy harnessing from exhaust gases, providing the engine with an additional boost, and elevating the new V12 engine to a higher level of performance. Additionally, new injectors with a 10% increase in flow rate have been incorporated, allowing the engine to achieve its maximum power while simultaneously meeting emission standards.
The engine also comes equipped with an innovative feature called Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what's needed for partial throttle, ensuring the driver has access to additional turbo pressure when more power is required. This is achieved through precise coordination between the throttle and the electronically controlled wastegate. Aston Martin has selected the final drive ratio to allow for impressive top speeds while maintaining robust acceleration capabilities – reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Like all modern Aston Martins, the Vanquish features a bonded and extruded aluminum monocoque chassis. However, unlike the DB12 and Vantage, its body is primarily made of carbon fiber. Aston Martin claims the car's dry weight is 1,774 kilograms. The vehicle is equipped with custom Pirelli P-Zero tires, sized 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the back. Standard equipment also includes forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to minimize unsprung weight.
Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with sophisticated suspension technology. The Vanquish incorporates Bilstein DTX dampers, similar to those in the latest Vantage and the DB12, and it also features a six-axis inertia measurement unit that allows for more exact control of the dampers, the electronic differential, and traction/stability control systems. Additionally, there's a fresh feature termed Corner Braking that ensures the rear stability when decelerating into a turn.
The interior of the Vanquish mirrors that of other modern Aston Martins, featuring a revamped center console replete with tactile controls and a bespoke entertainment system. Past models of Aston Martin faced criticism for their lackluster cabin design, but the cockpit of the Vanquish appears to be anything but lackluster.
Compared to the DB12, the Vanquish boasts increased dimensions, being longer and wider while also sitting closer to the ground. It extends nearly eight centimeters further between the wheels, stretches an additional 16.5 centimeters in length and widens by over six centimeters. However, a reduction in height contributes to its lower profile. It unmistakably bears the Aston signature, albeit with a more sculpted bonnet at the front and pronounced bulges at the rear.
The sharply cut-off rear design is a distinctive feature among the latest Aston models, drawing inspiration from a series of vehicles the company competed with at Le Mans in the 1960s: the DP212, DP214, and DP215. Additionally, both the silhouette and the rear end bear a resemblance to the exclusive Valour, which in turn nods to the robust GTs Aston produced in the 1970s. This marks only the third occasion that Aston Martin has opted to use the Vanquish moniker.
Additionally, V12 engines can still be found here.
Aston Martin has yet to reveal the cost of their latest Vanquish model, however, it is expected to be in the range of 250,000 to 300,000 Euros. The premium price tag compared to the brand's other offerings can be attributed to its limited production, with the company aiming to manufacture just 1,000 units annually. Customers can anticipate the initial deliveries to commence from October 2024.
