The fourth iteration of the Bentley Flying Spur has transcended beyond a sporty luxury sedan to become a four-door supercar. This is how the firm categorizes its most potent sedan to date, the Flying Spur with plug-in hybrid technology.
The newly introduced powertrain, featuring an ultra-performance hybrid system and a robust 782 horsepower V8 engine, arrives with sufficient vigor to replace the discontinued W12 without any feeling of loss. While pricing and official launch details remain unconfirmed, it's highly probable that it will hit the market sometime this year.

Exterior
A quick look isn't enough to spot the changes made to the new Bentley Flying Spur as compared to its predecessor, as it maintains the same body shape and size. The modifications are essentially limited to the radiator grille, the bumper, the rear diffuser, and the pattern of the 22-inch alloy wheels.
There's a fresh addition of a projected, illuminated Bentley emblem animation on the ground when the doors are opened, a feature borrowed from the Bentley Batur. The range of available exterior colors spans 101 options, with extra choices from Bentley's historic hues or custom paint finishes.

Interior
The interior of the latest Bentley Flying Spur has undergone minor revisions, with the familiar luxury design being maintained as the base structure. A new addition is a diamond quilting pattern and perforations on the seats, and for those who desire it, dark chrome decorative inlays are now an option.
There's a plethora of customization options available, with a mix of leathers, colors, stitching, and wood types, totaling 700 unique combinations. For the sound enthusiasts, there's a choice among three different audio systems, the most powerful of which boasts 2,200 watts and 19 speakers. A new feature called "Wellness Seating Specification" is now available, offering passengers personalized massage and climate control in all four seats.

Engines and Technology
The standout feature of the Bentley Flying Spur is the Ultra-Performance Hybrid system in the Speed variant that was previously mentioned. This powerful duo consists of a 600 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine paired with an extra electric motor that's incorporated into the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Flying Spur boasts a power output of 782 horsepower and a torque of 1,000 Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. This luxury sedan is capable of covering a distance of 76 kilometers using only electric power, and can reach a top speed of 140 km/h. However, charging the vehicle requires a bit of patience, taking approximately two hours and forty-five minutes with an 11 kW (AC) power supply.
The Bentley Flying Spur Speed comes standard with the Performance Active Chassis feature, which includes dynamic handling, four-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, and an updated ESC system. Additionally, it introduces two-valve dampers that allow for independent control of compression and rebound. The tuning can be adjusted through Comfort, Bentley, and Sport modes.

Costs and Competition
Bentley has yet to disclose the pricing for their latest Flying Spur equipped with the V8 plug-in hybrid. It is anticipated that the high-performance Speed variant may be priced above the W12 model, indicating a starting price above 266,000 Euros.
Competition is certainly as sparse as the Flying Spur itself, occupying an exclusive niche of particularly luxurious, high-performance, and swift sedans. Those not willing to wait for the British model can turn their attention to alternatives like the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance or the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, both of which are similarly priced.
