Jeep’s Commitment to Perfection: Wagoneer S Launch Could Face Delay for Quality Assurance
Head of Jeep: Launch of Wagoneer S to be postponed unless it meets impeccable standards
Jeep's inaugural electric vehicle for the American market, the 2024 Wagoneer S, won't hit dealerships prematurely if it doesn't meet the company's high standards, stated the chief of the brand during a discussion with Automotive News.
Jeep announced that the recently unveiled Wagoneer S is set to hit U.S. showrooms in the autumn season, provided it lives up to the quality benchmarks set by CEO Antonio Filosa.
Upcoming 2024 Model of the Jeep Wag
Filosa emphasized to Automotive News, "My aim is flawless excellence in our product. We're nearly there, yet nearly doesn't suffice. While timing is crucial, surpassing that is achieving perfection for the customers who honor us with the purchase of this vehicle."
Filosa mentioned he was informed by the Toluca, Mexico plant, which is responsible for manufacturing the Wagoneer S, that there has been an improvement in quality. He did not acknowledge any postponement. However, he stressed that the directive for the Wagoneer S is to withhold its release unless the quality is flawless.
The 2024 model of the Jeep Wagone
Constructed using Stellantis' STLA Large framework, the Wagoneer S matches the Jeep Grand Cherokee in dimensions. Its introduction will feature a two-motor propulsion system capable of 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, achieving a 0-60 mph acceleration in just 3.4 seconds. Jeep has announced an anticipated EPA range exceeding 300 miles, although this has not been confirmed officially. At present, only the premier version of the Wagoneer S, known as the Launch Edition, has been disclosed, priced at $71,995 including delivery fees. Additional models are expected to be released in the 2025 model year.
Next year, the Jeep Recon, an all-electric vehicle akin to the Wrangler, is set to launch alongside the Wagoneer S. Additionally, Jeep plans to unveil a new midsize model with hybrid capabilities in 2026, potentially as a successor to the Cherokee. Jeep has announced its intention to provide various powertrain options for its entire range by 2025.
