Der Legendäre Aston Martin Vanquish Kehrt Zurück: Ein V12-Meisterwerk in Kohlefaser
The 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish makes a comeback with its V12 engine intact
Its stunning carbon fiber body turns heads wherever it goes
For some enthusiasts, nothing beats the allure of a V12 engine. Regardless of the impressive 680 horsepower generated by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the DB12, and its remarkable sound, to them, it lacks the necessary number of cylinders. That's why Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names, the Vanquish, complete with a V12 engine.
Following a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful endeavor to create a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, embracing its original grand touring (GT) ethos. This audaciously sizable, potent, and opulent GT vehicle is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers 835 horsepower, enabling it to achieve top speeds of 345 kilometers per hour.

The engine retains the same basic dimensions as the previous Aston V12, but has undergone significant revisions compared to its predecessor. To boost both power and torque – an impressive 1,000 Newton-meters – while also complying with increasingly stringent emission regulations, the V12 has been fitted with a new block, heads, ports, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, injectors, and relocated spark plugs. Essentially, it’s been completely revamped. Aston claims the engine is now unrecognizable from its former version.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission, but akin to the fresh Vantage and the DB12, it comes equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
With an impressive 160 horsepower per liter, this power unit boasts the greatest specific output ever achieved by an Aston Martin V12 engine. As a result, the Vanquish 2024 represents the pinnacle of ongoing advancement. Since the debut of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, the performance and torque figures for Aston Martin's premier V12 models have effectively doubled.

The latest V12 engine boasts several technological advances such as a reinforced cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads featuring reprofiled camshafts, and revamped intake and exhaust ports. Additionally, repositioned spark plugs and new fuel injectors with a higher flow rate enhance combustion, leading to unmatched power and heightened efficiency. Moreover, the engine is equipped with new turbochargers that have a faster spin and less inertia, contributing to increased horsepower and a more responsive throttle.
The latest turbochargers have been upgraded with a lowered inertia and an increased rotation speed (by 15%) to enhance energy extraction from exhaust gases, supply more power to the engine, and elevate the new V12 engine's performance level. Additionally, the introduction of new fuel injectors that provide a 10% increase in flow rate aids the engine in achieving its maximum power while also meeting emission standards.
The engine also introduces a novel feature known as Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what's necessary for partial throttle, ensuring that drivers have access to extra turbo pressure when they need more power. This is achieved through a meticulous calibration of the throttle and the electronically controlled wastegate. Aston Martin claims that the final drive ratio has been selected to enable a high top speed, while still maintaining robust acceleration – achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Like all modern Aston Martins, the Vanquish features a monocoque frame constructed from bonded and extruded aluminum, yet unlike the DB12 and Vantage, its body is predominantly carbon fiber. Aston Martin states the dry weight of the vehicle is 1,774 kilograms. The tires are a custom set of Pirelli P-Zero, with dimensions of 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear. Standard features also include forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to maintain the unsprung weight.
Furthermore, the model is equipped with highly sophisticated suspension technology. The Vanquish incorporates Bilstein DTX dampers similar to those in the latest Vantage and the DB12, as well as a six-axis inertia measurement unit that enhances the accuracy in managing the dampers, electronic differential, and traction/stability control systems. Additionally, it features an innovative Corner Braking system that maintains rear stability when decelerating into a turn.
Inside, the Vanquish mirrors the design of other modern Aston Martins, featuring a revamped center console packed with tactile controls and a custom-designed entertainment system. Previous Aston Martins were often chided for their lackluster cabins, but the interior of the Vanquish appears to be anything but dull.
When you stack it up against the DB12, the Vanquish boasts a more considerable size in terms of length, width, and a lower stance. It stretches out an additional nearly eight centimeters at the wheelbase, extends its overall length by 16.5 centimeters, and broadens its width by over six centimeters. However, it compensates with a reduction in height. It unmistakably bears the Aston Martin signature look, albeit with a more sculpted hood at the front and more pronounced bulges at the rear.
The distinctive truncated tail of this model stands out amongst Aston's recent lineup, drawing inspiration from the vehicles the brand competed with at Le Mans in the 1960s, such as the DP212, DP214, and DP215. The silhouette and rear design also bear resemblance to the exclusive Valour, which in turn nods to Aston's robust GTs from the 1970s. Aston Martin has christened a model with the Vanquish moniker for only the third time in its history.
Even in this case, V12 engines remain present.
Aston Martin has yet to disclose the cost of the upcoming Vanquish, however, it's anticipated to have a starting price between 250,000 and 300,000 Euros. Justifying the price surge over the rest of the lineup, the limited production is a key factor, with the firm aiming to produce merely 1,000 units annually. Customers can expect the initial deliveries to commence as early as October 2024.
