Der König der Straße kehrt zurück: Aston Martin Vanquish 2025 – Der V12 lebt und übertrifft sich selbst
2025 Aston Martin Vanquish Reveal: The V12 Legacy Continues
With its stunning carbon fiber body, it's a true head-turner
For some, only a V12 will do. It doesn't matter that the DB12's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumps out 680 horsepower and sounds magnificent – it's the cylinder count that falls short. That's why Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names with a V12 engine: the Vanquish.
Following a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful endeavor to create a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, reverting to its original grand touring (GT) car essence. It boasts an outrageously large and opulent GT, equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers a mighty 835 horsepower and can achieve top speeds of up to 345 km/h.

The engine maintains the same basic dimensions as the previous Aston V12, but has undergone significant revisions to enhance its power and torque, which now reaches an impressive 1,000 Newton-meters. To achieve this while complying with increasingly strict emission regulations, the V12 has been equipped with a new engine block, heads, connections, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, fuel injectors, and relocated spark plugs. Essentially, it has been completely revamped. Aston claims that the engine is now indistinguishable from its predecessor.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission, yet, akin to the latest Vantage and DB12, it is equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
Boasting a remarkable 160 horsepower per liter, this engine sets a new record for the most power-dense V12 engine ever produced by Aston Martin. With this achievement, the 2024 Vanquish marks the pinnacle of ongoing advancement. Since the debut of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, Aston Martin's premier V12 models have seen their performance and torque figures double.
Aston Martin Vanquish Model Number 11
The latest V12 engine comes packed with several advanced features, such as a reinforced cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads that include re-profiled camshafts, and fresh intake and exhaust ports. The repositioned spark plugs and new fuel injectors, which boast a higher flow rate, contribute to enhanced combustion, leading to top-of-the-class power and increased efficiency. Additionally, the introduction of new turbochargers that operate at faster speeds and have a lower moment of inertia results in a boost in power and a more responsive throttle.
The upgrades include advanced turbochargers with decreased inertia and increased rotation speed (by 15%), enhancing energy extraction from exhaust gases and boosting engine performance, thereby elevating the new V12 engine to a higher level of power output. Additionally, the introduction of fuel injectors with a 10% increase in flow rate allows the engine to achieve its peak performance while simultaneously meeting emission standards.
The engine also features a novel capability called Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what's needed for partial throttle, ensuring that drivers have access to additional turbo pressure when they require extra power. This is achieved through a meticulous tuning of the throttle valve and the electronic wastegate. According to Aston Martin, the final drive ratio has been selected to facilitate a high top speed while maintaining robust acceleration, clocking 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Like all modern Astons, the Vanquish features a bonded and extruded aluminum monocoque chassis. However, unlike the DB12 and Vantage, its body is primarily composed of carbon fiber. Aston Martin states the dry weight of the vehicle is 1,774 kilograms. The tires are a custom-designed set of Pirelli P-Zeros, measuring 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear. The vehicle's standard equipment includes forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to keep the unsprung weight under control.
Furthermore, there is an abundance of sophisticated suspension technology. The Vanquish incorporates Bilstein DTX dampers similar to those in the new Vantage and DB12, and it also features a six-axis inertial measurement unit that allows for more accurate control of the dampers, the electronic differential, and the traction/stability control systems. Additionally, there's an innovative feature called Corner Braking, which ensures the rear stability when braking into a turn.
The interior of the Vanquish mirrors that of other modern Aston Martins, featuring a revamped center console replete with tactile controls and a custom-designed infotainment system. Previous Aston Martin models have often been critiqued for their lackluster cabins, but the cockpit of the Vanquish appears to be anything but lackluster.
Relative to the DB12, the Vanquish presents a more expansive profile, boasting increased length, width, and a reduction in height. It stretches an additional nearly eight centimeters in wheelbase, extends 16.5 centimeters longer in total, and widens by approximately six centimeters. However, its stature is diminished due to a decrease in height. It unmistakably bears the Aston Martin signature look, complemented by a more sculpted front hood and pronounced rear bulges.
The distinctively truncated rear fin is a standout feature among the latest Aston models, drawing inspiration from a series of vehicles that the brand raced with at Le Mans in the 1960s, specifically the DP212, DP214, and DP215. The silhouette and rear design also bear resemblance to the exclusive Valour, which in turn nods to the robust GT models Aston produced in the 1970s. This marks only the third occasion that Aston Martin has employed the Vanquish moniker.
In this area, V12 engines can still be found.
Aston Martin has yet to disclose the cost of the upcoming Vanquish, yet predictions suggest a price tag ranging between 250,000 to 300,000 Euros. The price surge over the other models in the series can be attributed to the limited production run, with the company aiming to produce just 1,000 units annually. Customers can anticipate the initial deliveries to commence from October 2024.
