Daniel Ricciardo Faces Uphill Battle to Secure RB F1 Seat for 2025, Says Christian Horner
Daniel Ricciardo has been informed that keeping his RB F1 position for 2025 will require significant effort.
Red Bull Racing's team leader, Christian Horner, has stated that Daniel Ricciardo must put in significant effort to keep his position on the team.
Daniel Ricciardo was not reconsidered for a spot on Red Bull's main racing team for the upcoming year, as the team chose to extend Sergio Perez's contract, ensuring he continues as Max Verstappen's teammate for another two years.
During the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, it was also announced by Red Bull that Yuki Tsunoda, Ricciardo's teammate, will continue with the affiliated team RB through 2025.
This means there is only one spot remaining in the Red Bull team, presently held by Ricciardo, who has experienced a varied beginning to the 2024 season.
"Horner expressed to Sky Sports in Canada that Daniel's year has begun with a mix of highs and lows."
"He's aware that he must perform well. He realized he hadn't achieved sufficient results to secure a position on the senior team for the upcoming year."
Horner acknowledged that Ricciardo needs to put in effort to maintain his position, as Red Bull's younger talents, Liam Lawson and Formula 2 contender Isack Hadjar, are poised to seize any available opportunity.
"Horner indicated that there's ample time remaining before a decision has to be made regarding the second seat."
"Daniel brings a wealth of experience to the table, which undeniably has had a positive impact on Yuki. His expertise seems to have provided valuable engineering insights, significantly aiding their progress."
"There's an impressive array of emerging young stars in Formula 2, and Isack Hadjar is right on the cusp of breaking through."
"Ricciardo will need to put in considerable effort if he intends to keep his position.
"Liam [Lawson] is also an indispensable part of the team. He's eagerly engaged, closely following every session. We're well aware of his potential, which naturally puts pressure on the current drivers."
